Martin Luther King Prompt
Every single soul in America knows who Martin Luther King Jr. is. A man who’s one dream changed a whole entire nation. I too, have had a dream, where I wish it could be an impact on people’s lives. Where people could look back and see a remarkable change for the better of mankind. So people can say with honor, that they are truly proud to be apart of America.
I myself have always been a huge dreamer. I’m the little girl who would always tell big crazy stories to any listening ear. Being the big day dreamer in the classroom was defiantly my reputation. But one particular dream had stood out, and I believe there is a reason for that. This God given dream consisted of people who have been through the depths of hell and back and can’t seem to catch a break. But all of a sudden, a safe haven comes along, offering these people a new Godly start, a chance to break away from whatever bonded them to sadness. In this dream it suggests that I can help traumatized people overcome horrific events within their lifetime.
For instance, a good friend of yours comes to you telling you that she was attacked. Instantly your reaction is if she’s alright. Then you get into the mode of getting her help, but don’t know where to begin. First you call the police and get everything straighten out, and you go to the hospital for a few days. After that you do the trial and put the guy behind bars….but then what? Is everything going to go back to normal, fine and dandy? No. Your friend is literally left there to pick up the pieces of which the attacker shattered for her. And you have no choice but to just watch her and no idea how to help where to start the clean up.
For a long tine, I’ve dreamed of opening my own crisis Christ centered healing home. But almost as recent as six months ago, I’ve wanted to only be apart of one. Only because I know nothing about running a business and I don’t want to be distracted by complications of owning something. I just want to give a one hundred percent effort to my clients who need a path reopened, and a nonjudgmental eye, along with a compassionate heart to hear real life stories. In the world, there are many people, and every single one of those people have a story to be heard. I want to create such a place where people can escape and rebuild their lives away from realities distractions and temptation. A place where people who’ve been continuously knocked down by life, to be able to get help to get them back on their feet and start healing from their trials and tribulations.
This home would be not only for children and women, but also for men. But there would be different floors of course then family suites and married couple suits, along with a childcare's floor, woman's, and mans floors. The building wouldn’t look like a hospital, but exactly like a lovely country home with white picket fences, and horses and animals. The refuge home would be secluded in a country suburb but close enough to enjoy a night in the town. Also the backyard would be huge, a twenty person hot tub, with an in-ground pool then a basketball court with a track, and soccer, a football field, and a tennis court. Then have a peaceful nature setting, with water fountains with lily pads floating within ponds. Then a flowered filled walk way to just be able to walk and think, and reflect.
Clients that come to the healing home would get a top notch staff to work with. People that will genuinely have everyone's bests interests at heart. The healing home guests will have the remarkable opportunity to be able to for one have the chance to heal, but to also work while they are at it. That way when they go back into reality, money won't be so tight. Jobs could included working in the garden, cooking, cleaning, teaching kids, daycare, welcome staff etc. Pay would be at minimum wage, and hours would be whenever, no requirements simply because the healing home is for them, so they can go at their own pace and forget about lives trouble. Not having to worry schedules except for eating, sleeping and help sessions.
Healing is a process, and processes take time. People who have nowhere else to turn, no where to go can come to the Healing Home. Its not for troubled youth, sent by a judge, or ex-convicts. But for real life people, struggling with deep troubles. This isn't a place where people can take a vacation. It will be a place where broken hearts are revealed, bottomless water well eyes can finally dry up a bit, and where a frown of sadness and remorse can finally be turned into a smile full of laughter again. The world is a tough place to be, branching out to others is important and part of the call that God had intended, and this would be a small way for me to finally answer Him back. After all, Jesus does say that he cries out for us, because we are so far away from our “home”.
